Are you a mum-to-be, a new mum or dad and want to get out of the house with your little one? Feel like having someone else make you a cup of tea or coffee and ply you with biscuits?! If so, then come and join us at the NCT Towcester & District branch’s To-Be’s, Tots & Toddlers group!

Held on the 2^nd and 4^th Monday of every month, the group meets at the Community Centre on Islington Road, from 10am-11.30am. There’s a civilised area away from the kids for those of you expecting and wanting to make the most of peace and quiet while meeting other mums. There’s a safe corner at one end of the hall for new mums and their babies with soft bouncy chairs, soft mats and baby toys. And, for the more boisterous of children, the toddlers, there’s the rest of the hall to run around in, ride on cars, play with trains, have fun in the kids’ kitchen and get dressed up with numerous fancy dress outfits!

Now been running continuously since June 2009, the group welcomes around 25 mums and 30 kids every time and is a fun packed session. June saw us invite the local police to come and chat with the kids - and the mums of course! The kids loved meeting 'real' policemen - forget PC Plum from Balamory - some of them got into the spirit of things and raided their fancy dress boxes and came suitably dressed - others had fun trying on the hats. They were also more than chuffed with the stickers PC Hawes and PCSO Herbert brought along with them! The mums also had the chance to talk to them about local concerns they may have had about the local community and so it was a successful event all round.

*NEW* from July 2010 - we will be trying out a new 'sing a long' session around 11.15am with all the usual songs but accompanied by guitar! Our very own chair, Sian Mander, will be strumming away to see how much the children like a bit of live music. If anyone else is musically talented feel free to bring along your instrument and join in - the more the merrier.

There’s plenty going on so why not come and along and say hi! Don’t get the Monday morning blues, a cup of tea and a biscuit can make all the difference!
