| Welcome to our website! |
To provide local expecting parents, and new parents of Towcester and the surrounding villages with information, educational services and support. We are a local branch of the National Childbirth Trust, the largest and best-known childbirth and parenting charity in the UK. Who are we? On a national level, the NCT began life in 1956 and has successfully worked to improve the experience of becoming a parent in the UK. The NCT wants all parents to have an experience of pregnancy, birth and early parenthood that enriches their lives and gives them confidence in being a member. The NCT also actively campaigns for improved maternity care and better services, aiming to provide parents the education and opportunity to make informed choices. Run by parents, for parents, the NCT is rooted in local communities across the UK, through its network of 330 branches run by volunteers. The NCT is a membership charity with over 96,000 members across the UK. The work is funded by membership fees, fundraising activities and delivery of our services.  What do we do?On a national level, the NCT regularly works with the Department of Health on information campaigns, has successfully led the campaign for fathers to be present at the birth, and is currently working to lobby for breastfeeding friendly hospitals and practical help for parents, and are at the forefront of the campaign to halt the rise in unecessary caesareans. What can we offer to you? On a local level, the Towcester & District branch can offer you support, both formal and informal, for parents and carers from pregnancy onwards. We organise a range of social and fundraising events for members and non-members, including antenatal classes, local baby groups, coffee mornings, and evenings out without your children.
